About

The Lehigh Valley Brain Injury Support Group (LVBISG) serves individuals with traumatic brain injury and their families throughout Northeastern Pennsylvania, New Jersey, Delaware and other neighboring communities.

As a main-stay in the community, the LVBISG has become a fixture wherein individuals and families affected by traumatic brain injuries can seek and obtain communal support, expertise, and a strong network. Within this unique environment, individuals and families learn to cope, support each other, share commonalities and derive strength from each other.

The LVBISG consists of brain injured persons, their families and friends, medical and rehabilitation professionals and caring people who are working to promote better understanding, treatment and quality of life for the brain injured.

The support group was initiated in 1988 as a grassroots effort to provide a necessary outlet for those afflicted by brain injury. Today, the success of the LVBISG continues to find strength and stability in community partnerships, the collective efforts of many dedicated and devoted individuals and a strong affiliation with the Good Shepherd Rehabilitation Network (GSRN), now celebrating 104 years of excellence in rehabilitative care.

The Good Shepherd Rehabilitation Network has embraced the mission and goals of the LVBISG and has provided a meeting place, administrative support, and funding as a measure to assure consistency, quality and continuity of the LVBISG.

In addition, the LVBISG has benefitted greatly from its affiliation with the Brain Injury Association of America and the Brain Injury Association of Pennsylvania.
